Today I felt like I should share with you how I try to maintain a healthy weight whilst on travelling and I have one big secret that I am about to let out of the bag:
This year I have lost 2 stone with Slimming World, I am not yet a target member but I am very close!
I have noticed that when I travel I tend to put on a pound or two (maybe 3… who am I kidding) I have never been on holiday and actually lost weight. A huge part of the experience of travel for me is trying out the local foods and new flavours.

It’s not always perfect, but I try to stick to the slimming world plan where I can whilst I’m abroad and I use my daily allowances and ‘syns’ in the best way that I can. Luckily this diet is super flexible so it fits in with travelling perfectly. There are always local healthy choices to be made, if in doubt visit local food markets with fresh fish counters and vegetables and fruits.
When abroad exploring new cities and countries I walk everywhere. I have walked 3 marathons in the past so I am no stranger to hours of walking and I actually find the best way to see a new place is on foot, you get to see the small things that would be overlooked whilst zooming past in a taxi or on a bus.

Luckily for me, I like to stay in very nice hotels so the vast majority of places that I stay in have either a swimming pool, spa or gym. So I can usually find a little time during my stay to check out these facilities and get a quick workout or swim.
How do you stay fit and healthy while abroad? I’d love to know if you have any handy hints and tips. Let me know in the comments box below. x
