Last summer I was fortunate enough to visit the small but beautiful Mediterranean island of Ibiza twice and experienced both day charter and sleep aboard yacht charter with Dream Boats Ibiza.
The first time I was staying in the Hard Rock Hotel (I have a separate article dedicated to this) but one day I took a day yacht charter with a group of girl friends to go over to the quiet idyllic island of Formentera and have lunch in Juan y Andreas.
We chartered the boat through Dream Boats Ibiza and we had a wonderful day. We met our crew at Marina Botafoch and boarded at 10am, took our own selection of croissants and hams and cheeses that we bought from a small convenience store in the harbour for breakfast on the way over to Formentera.
Over at Formentera the boat anchored and we spent time sunbathing and listening to music. The captain and the deckhand played our music through the boat’s speakers and served complimentary drinks of wine and beer until it was time to catch our tender across to the restaurant.
After lunch we cruised back to Ibiza and anchored just offshore of Blue Marlin beach club, where we swam in the sea before saying farewell to our silver James Bond style boat and headed into the beach club to enjoy the party.
The second time I visited Ibiza was a different experience altogether, it was a dream come true and it may well be the most fun and most perfect trip of my entire life so far!
We chartered a sunseeker for the weekend and four of us spent four nights on board this wonderful yacht being waited on by the three full time staff on board.
They did everything for us, and looked after every request we had… even tying our inflatable Pegasus to the top!
We met our yacht and crew in the morning around 11am after our flight landed. We were offered drinks and snacks and shown around to choose our bedrooms for the next few days.
Each morning, I woke from my sleep and wandered upstairs still in my pajamas, to find a continental breakfast set out the dining table on rear deck and one of the crew waiting to ask me which hot drink I would prefer.
After breakfast, I would go downstairs to change into my swimwear, where the bedroom would have already been cleaned and made up. Then we would set sail for the island of Formentera. Each day we would have lunch at one of the idyllic beach restaurants such as Juan y Andreas or Besos whilst looking out over the white sands and turquoise waters. The crew would handle all of our restaurant bookings for us and arrange tenders across to the shore whenever we needed them.
We had plenty of time to anchor in small secluded coves and swim in the sea or explore caves on our tender boat. The crew knew the area so well and each day had new suggestions of locations for us to visit. Including visiting a sand bank in the middle of the sea on the last day.
As the sun would begin to set, we would head back to Ibiza for the evening. On the way back we could shower and dress in our evening wear and by the time we arrived in port we were ready to take full advantage of the ibiza nightlife. On returning to the yacht after the Ibiza restaurants and clubs, our crew left us a small picnic in lounge on the coffee table of sandwiches, crisps and bottles of water. They looked after us so well it was incredible.
Staying on a sunseeker with dreamboats Ibiza was one of the highlights of my year and I hope to one day do it all over again.
