No1 Traveler Lounge at Heathrow T3 – an early morning departure

There are no photos in this post but I have planned to review this lounge again in ten days time and I will ensure to make up for the lack of visual media then.

I had a morning flight, and arrived at the lounge at 6.15am. I had misplaced the booking confirmation, but this was no problem. They took my last name and swiftly found the booking on their system and gave me access to the lounge. I have been to a few of the no 1 traveler lounges and I have always found the staff to be pleasant and helpful.

They informed us at the desk that the WIFI was currently unavailable but they were working on getting it back on as quickly as possible. Not a big deal for me as I have unlimited data as part of my phone contract but I can imagine it would be quite an issue for foreign visitors relying on Wifi.

I selected a table with two big comfy chairs, one for myself and one for my travel companion and made my way over to the buffet table. I began my day with a warm pain au chocolat and a cup of tea.

By 7am the lounge had started to get busier and the empty seats were filling up fast, so I visited the small spa before it got too busy and had a manicure for my trip. You have to pay extra for the spa and beauty treatments but it is nice to know you have the option of getting last minute treatments done at the airport if you don’t have time to do it in the days leading up to your trip.

When I returned to my table I decided to have a hot snack. The complimentary menu is limited to 5 small dishes. But there is something to suit everyone’s taste. My friend and I ordered a bacon roll each. The waiter was happy to take individual requests such as ensuring the bacon is crispy and cutting off any excess fat. Both dishes were served very quickly and the food was good quality and presented well.

There is also a TV room, games room and a snug but I didn’t have enough time to visit those. A quick trip to the loo was found to be quite luxurious with dark bronze coloured mosaic tiles adorning the walls. It was very spa like. After a relaxed hour and a half it was time to board the plane.

I paid £20 for my visit to No1 traveler lounge as I am a Virgin Atlantic flying club member, otherwise entry fees are slightly more expensive. I definitely feel that this is value for money as you get food and drinks free once you are inside the lounge (including wines, beers and spirits) and you have a nice comfortable place to relax before your flight.
