Dubrovnik Top Tips

Get a window seat on the left hand side of the plane if your flying in from the UK or Western Europe, about half an hour before landing you will be treated a great view of Venice from the air and then the coast of Croatia
Hotels outside of the old town are generally larger and have better facilities. Choose one that’s a ten to fifteen minute walk away and you’ll have the best of both worlds
Explore the alleyways of the old town. Some lovely inexpensive restaurants can be found a few streets back off of the main parade and away from the harbour area
Take day trips to nearby islands and coves
Walk the city walls. It’s great fun to explore the city walls, but take some suncream and s bottle of water up with you. Walking around the walls takes longer than you think and there is only a small cafe half way around
Take a ride on the cable car. There’s a very nice restaurant at the top and a viewing platform. If you get a clear sunny day the view is incredible
Leave the high heels at home. Sandals or wedges are best for the evenings here. Walking to and from the old town and around the cobbled streets would be hard work in heels. There are some bars and nightclubs but you wouldn’t feel out of place in wedges.
Short transfers as the airport is only a 15 to 20 minute drive from the old town
